The Smart Kids Digital Tutoring Center is one of the best (if not the best) computerized and paper-based tutoring centers in Illinois. Smart Kids has served the educational needs of Chicago and surrounding suburbs since 2004.
The Smart Kids Digital Tutoring Centers was just an idea back in 2002, when a group of academically driven parents watching and doing everything they could to help their elementary and high school students try and catch-up and/or get ahead of their peers without success, got together to try and make a difference.
As a group in 2002, we researched local and national tutoring centers finding out what was working and not working for them, while at the same time talking with elementary and high school faculty members. Then in 2004, after selecting and customizing our A+ Tutoring Program to the needs of our community, we enlisted the help of grad students and teachers to tutor at the Smart Kids Digital Tutoring Center. Since 2004 to the present, Smart Kids has been 100% successful raising student test scores in both Mathematics and Reading (Vocabulary, Language Usage, & Reading Comprehension.
During the 2006-2007 school years, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) contracted Smart Kids to provide Supplemental Educational Services (SES) to their/our students. Again, Smart Kids was successful in raising student scores on the ISAT. In fact, our center was recognized in the 2010-11 Achievement Analysis Report, put forward by the University of Memphis’ Center for Research in Education, as being one-of-two providers, out of thirty-one, who provided SES services to the Chicago Public Schools in 2010-11 on the ISAT''s Reading/Language Arts subject areas, with statistically proven higher actual vs. predicted scoring.
Smart Kids' success is delivered through our curriculum, which is aligned with the Common Core standards (NWEA/MAP). Our pre- and post-assessment tests (that identify exactly what our students know and areas in need of further development), individualized lesson plans that target each student’s deficiencies, caring & academically advanced tutors, administrators that consistently monitor the progress of our students, and sharing this information with parents and teachers is what makes Smart Kids different from all other tutoring centers. Together, engaged with parents, we can achieve each of our students’ academic goals, whether it be to Catch-Up, Keep-Up, or Get-Ahead, gain entry into gifted programs & schools, scoring higher on the NWEA/MAP, admission into an Academic Center or Selective Enrollment High School, score higher on the ACT/SAT, and gain admission into a college of choice.
