Smart Kids offers the only Individualized tutoring program in Chicago that help students prepare for the Seventh Grade Standardized Test (e.g., NWEA/MAP).

Seventh Grade Standardized Test

 

With its adoption by over 40 states, the Common Core has become a de facto national assessment standard.  Beginning in 2014, all Chicago students, both public and private will take a 100% Common Core compliant assessment.

 

This test is one-third of the score required for admission to a Selective Enrollment High School.  Students must get at least a stanine of five in both math and reading on this test in order to qualify to take the Selective Enrollment Entrance Exam.

Program Overview

With the Smart Kids A+ Tutoring Program, students prepare for the Seventh Grade Standardized Test in an intensive 1-to-1 instruction setting with one of our expert instructors.  Students leave the course fully equipped to perform well on test day and get a boost that can lift their 7th grade rankings.  The Smart Kids A+ Program starts with pre-assessment tests to identify strengths and weaknesses.  Students will then focus on the areas where they need the most improvement.  Students also take post-assessment tests to ensure that they have truly mastered each subject area, before they move on to their next grade-level lessons, and the Seventh Grade Standardized Test.

Smart Kids A+ Tutoring Program

• is offered 6 days a week, and you can choose a flexible schedule from Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  We’re open all year, except for national holidays.  Or, you can choose our Home-to-School Program if you have a good study environment, and your child is an independent learner.

• includes a Study Guide with an extensive review of materials., Practice Tests that cover math and reading (Vocabulary, Language Usage, and Reading comprehension), Mastery Tests that ensure students have achieved the concept of each lesson, and provides supplemental material for NWEA/MAP test takers.

• includes regular updates on student performance.

• does not use calculators!  We encourage students to think on their feet.

 

• delivers individualized lesson plans for each student. We believe individualized lesson plans are better than the traditional “practice on paper” classroom lessons..  Students can learn 2 or 3 times faster, and our program reveals how long it takes for students to complete each lesson.  In addition, our tutoring program helps students increase their speed.
